There is a perception that coaching and mentoring is there to help people who are at a sticking point or have a particular behavioural problem, well of course it can help. But it is also there to help people who don't have any particular problems exceed their current performance and achieve greater things or find greater fulfillment.
It is critical that these key individuals perform well as they have the maximum leverage for change - they provide the leadership and role models for the rest of the organisation. They are under the greatest pressure, and are more likely to suffer from stress and an out of balance work/home life.
